VIRGINIA GAMBA Former Monroe & Middletown, Resident AGE: 94 Virginia Gamba, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Care One in Jackson Township, New Jersey. She was born in Brooklyn and resided in Monroe and Middletown before settling in Montgomery, New York. Her family and friends knew Virginia affectionately as "Gigi." She was a devoted letter writer and maintained regular correspondence with family and friends across the country. In addition, Gigi loved to travel and take pictures. She had a green thumb and enjoyed her yearly garden. Gigi was a fantastic cook and shared her knowledge and skills with others. Gigi was a longtime member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. She was also certified by the State of New York in Cosmetology. In 1994, Gigi lost her husband of 25 years, Rudolph Gamba. She was also predeceased by her father and mother, Ignazio and Pauline (Blondina) Bordonali, brothers, John and Benjamin, and sisters, Mary Cox, Anna Vitale, and Ida Bulaga. Her brother, Salvatore "Sam" Bordonali and his wife, Catherine (Pillion) of Oldsmar, Florida, as well as many loving nieces and nephews survive her. A Gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918. A Prayer Service will be offered at 10:30 at the funeral home with Fr. John Bonnici and graveside services will follow at St. Columba R.C. Church Cemetery, Route 94, Chester, New York 10918.
