Suzanne Gibbons

Suzanne Law Grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Stella Maris Catholic Girls High School in 1961. After graduation, Suzanne worked at General Motors in Manhattan. In 1963 she met a probationary Firefighter in the FDNY, and the two fell fast in love.
Suzanne married Stephen Gibbons in 1963.In 1969 their first child Kathleen was born. Kathleen was a special needs child, and in her, Suzanne found the calling that she would serve fiercely for the rest of her life: Mother
Steve and Suzanne moved to Chester in 1970.Next came her son Stephen and her youngest daughter Jennifer. In 1979 the family moved to Johnson NY. Suzanne attended Middletown Beauty School in 1981 and began a career as a hairdresser. She worked at the JC Penney Beauty Salon at Orange Plaza and Crystal Run Galleria.
Suzanne had a far-reaching influence on not only her children but every young person who sat at her table. She encouraged young people to be honest and genuine and to follow their hearts. Beloved by all her children's friends, they took pleasure in hearing Suzanne share her sage wisdom in her Brooklyn accent. Suzanne was a fearless fighter for her children, a fact which the neighborhood bullies learned the hard way.
In 2006, Suzanne's firstborn Kathleen went to her great reward, and Suzanne mourned for her for the rest of her life.
In 2007 both Stephen and Jennifer became police officers in the NYPD, and Suzanne never missed the chance to share the immense pride she felt for her children.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Stephen, her sister Christina Wilbur, and her children Stephen and Jennifer, as well as many of her beloved dogs and cats.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, during the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 11:00 am at Saint Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918.
Interment will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924
