Saroj Goyal, MD (08.26.1949 - 03.08.2018) Monroe, NY Dr. Saroj Goyal of Monroe, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 8th, 2018. She was 68. Saroj was born August 26th, 1949 in Govardhan, India as one of eight children. She earned her MD from Lady Harding Medical College and Hospital in New Delhi, India before moving to the U.S. to practice medicine. Over the course of her long career, Saroj served in many capacities. Early in her career, she was a professor of child psychiatry at the Chicago Medical School, where she was recognized as a brilliant educator. Later, she served as a child psychiatrist for the states of Pennsylvania and New York and maintained her own practice. Saroj was also a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a tireless connector who found joy in bringing people together to celebrate occasions big or small in her own style. She is fondly remembered for her bright laughter and delicious cooking, and she was the life of every gathering. Along with spending time with loved ones, Saroj enjoyed cultivating her beautiful garden and playing with her three grandchildren. Her loved ones remember her for her fierce inner strength, grace, deep spirituality, unyielding positivity, and readiness to support anyone in need. Saroj was preceded in death by her parents Shanti and Raghunath Garg, her sister Anshu, and her brother Ramesh. She is survived by countless members of her beloved family, who will miss her dearly: her husband of 46 years, Greesh; her son Abhinav and his wife Shilpa and their daughter Saia and son Ashan; and her son Neel and his wife Anjuli and their son Jay. Also surviving her are her sisters Rukmani, Kusum, and Anju; brothers Mahesh and Dinesh; and her loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews across the world. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10th, 2018, during the hours of 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York. A Cremation service will take place on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, New York.
