The Daughter of the late Bernard and Rose Kelly, she was born on May 17, 1931, in NYC, New York.
Sarah (Sadie) was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, Nana, and Great Nana. She was the daughter of two Irish immigrants and the second oldest of 15 children.
Family and friends were Sarahs passion and delight. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a charming personality and always made people around her smile.
She was proud of her Irish heritage and would host a special family celebration after the St. Patricks Day parade in NYC each year in her apartment. Everyone always loved her delicious cooking and piling into the tiny kitchen for an annual kitchen picture. Sarah loved talking on the phone, a comforting cup of tea, sitting on the benches close to her home in the city, shopping at Shop Rite and The Christmas Tree Shoppe, visiting the beach (Cape Cod, California, and NC), and doing puzzles. She resided in both Chester, NY (Country house) and in Manhattan. Her love for New York City was strong and she would often say that there was nowhere else in the world quite like it! Sarah loved people well and always had a grateful heart thanking God for each waking day.
Sarah was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Bernard J. Donohue (Baba). She was also predeceased by her beloved son Bernard P. Donohue (Butch).
