Rosa Fini

Rosa Leva Fini, 101, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was born in the year 1917 in Italy. She was the daughter of Teresa and Vincenzo Leva, and the oldest of six children. Rosa married Giovanni Fini in 1934. They had 7 children, left Italy, and immigrated to the USA in 1955. Rosa worked as a seamstress in Queens, NY. She and her family eventually moved to Chester, NY where she was a life-long homemaker who loved gardening, cooking, sewing, attending church daily and spending time with her very large family. Rosa is survived by her seven children-Albert and his wife Loretta, Frank and his late wife Sandy, Lucy and her husband Joe, Pauline and her husband Paul, Aldo and his wife Ines, Rita and her husband Dominick, and Salvatore and his wife Concetta; and her sibling Antonio Leva. She was the grandmother of 24 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 57 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother of 1 great-great-granddaughter. She has many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Giovanni (2001), her brothers Ercole and Paul Leva, and sisters Pauline and Gina. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 during the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Monday, August 20, 2018 during the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918 with Fr. John Bonnici officiating. Entombment will follow at 12:30 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum, located at 5468 Route 9W, Newburgh, NY 12550. In lieu of gifting flowers, the family has requested that donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Fund and Eva Fini Rett Syndrome Research.
