Robert Dougherty

August 23, 1931 — January 29, 2021

Former Goshen resident, Robert M. Dougherty, died January 29th at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. At his request, no service will be held. "Bob" was born August 23rd, 1931, in Bronx, New York. He was an extremely talented, and award-winning, artist and graphic designer. Bob, known in the industry as "Doc", because he fixed everything, had a 40 plus year career in Manhattan at Look and Money magazines with Time/Life Inc. as their Graphic Designer and then Design Director. For 6 years, Bob was also a Master Sergeant in the Army National Guard with an Honorable Discharge in November, 1957. Known to all as a quiet, gentle man, Bob would often surprise those who knew him best with his dry, yet hysterical, sense of humor. He was an expert marksman who loved to fish and hunt, as well as a fine wood craftsman who also designed the cathedral ceiling addition to their home in Valhalla, NY. Bob and his family moved to Goshen, NY in 1977 and continued to commute to Manhattan for work for several years. When the winters got to be a bit much, there was a move to the Tampa, Florida area in 1998, and after 15 sunny years, Bob and his wife, Olga, returned to Orange County to be closer to their children. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Olga, daughters, Kathy, Jo and Kami, sons, Kevin and Keith, as well as 8 grandchildren, Randi, Corey, John, Joseph, Kasey, Lindsay, Jack and Alex and 6 great grand children. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Loves leaves a memory no one can steal." Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas & Brendan Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. To offer an online memorial please visit ww.flynnfh.com
