Ray Schillberg, age 74, passed away on Friday, December 16th, 2016 after a short bout of Liver Cancer. He was born on April 5, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a longtime resident of Valentine, Nebraska, but returned to New York a few years ago to be closer to his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Jessica Cruz and Daniel Schillberg, his sister Arlene Colaiacovo his brother Thomas Schillberg, his grandchildren Cecilia, Connor and another granddaughter on the way. He also has a large loving family of nieces, nephews, great-nephew, great-nieces and friends that feel like family in both New York and Nebraska. Ray was an experienced and highly skilled carpenter for many years as Cherry Carpentry and has left his artistic imprint across Cherry County. He enjoyed bowling with friends and attending his grandchildren's football games and karate graduations. He was a creative photographer, an accomplished wood worker and has left many memories for his family and friends to enjoy. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. To celebrate his life in Nebraska a memorial celebration will be held at the Bunkhouse in Valentine on Friday, December 23rd. To celebrate his life in New York a memorial celebration will be held in the spring of 2017.
