Phyllis Lucianne Jarrow was born on Friday October 12th, 1933 to Anna Reviello and Tommy Killino of Old Forge Pennsylvania. Phyllis died Tuesday July 11th, 2017 at the Valley View Center in Goshen, NY. She was one of three children, her sisters Mary Zelinski and Jenny Pilosi, whom she loved so dearly, preceded her in death. Phyllis graduated from Old Forge High School where she met the love of her life George Joseph Jarrow Jr., a Polish boy from the other side of town and a very good man. George preceded Phyllis in death in 1992. The early loss of her husband weighed on Phyllis for the rest of her life. Phyllis received her Nursing degree at Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing in 1954, and began her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse, during which time her passion for the care of others touched the lives of many. Phyllis always put others first. Phyllis and George were married on Thanksgiving Day 1955, eventually settling down in New City in Rockland County, New York. Together they went on to raise three sons, Thomas, George and David. The majority of Phyllis's career was spent at Rockland County Health Complex in Pomona, NY where she specialized in Geriatric Care. With the support of her colleagues, she researched and eventually applied for a New York State Grant to fund a Program which Phyllis designed, that would provide ‘adult day care' services to local citizens in need, based at the Yeager Health Complex in Pomona, NY. Upon receiving the grant, Phyllis and her staff opened the "Adult Day Health Center". To our knowledge, this was the first NY State sponsored adult day care program of its kind. Phyllis was a Trailblazer and a Visionary who knew all too well what the future has in store for us. And she wanted to make that better. Phyllis retired in 1990. Phyllis loved to cook, read, and play with her cats. She had the valuable trait of being a great listener. Yet what she loved most was other people, the people she touched, and those who touched her. She will be missed a great deal by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special mention of gratitude to the staff at the Braemar Assisted Living Community as well as the wonderful professional caring Staff at Valley View Center for Nursing Care and Rehabilitation in Goshen, NY. Phyllis Jarrow is survived by her sons and their wives; Thomas and Claire of Snufftown, NY., George and Mollie of Santa Cruz CA., David and Christine of Marietta, GA., Her Adored Grandchildren: Cara, Maya, Paul, Chloe and Emma Jarrow. Jesse and Kaitlyn Trask. She is also survived by the entire extended Family in Old Forge, PA and beyond. May the Joy of Her Memory come to outweigh the pain of Her loss.
