Peter J. Masella

Peter Masella, Jr. passed away on September 4, 2018. The son of Phyllis T. and Peter Masella, he was born in the Bronx in 1958. A longtime resident of Orange County, Peter moved to the area in 1962, at three years of age. A graduate of St. John's in Goshen, John S. Burke Catholic High School, and SUNY Binghamton, Peter was a Social Case Worker for Orange County for almost thirty years. Peter had an encyclopedic mind on every subject. A quiet person, he was fascinated by and deeply loved his nieces and nephews. Peter was a kind, generous and thoughtful person, and will be terribly missed by his family, friends and clients. Survivors include his father, Peter and his wife Marguerite; his sister Philomena; his brothers Dominic, Christopher and his wife Norine, and David and his wife Rachel; his step-brothers William Lawlor and his wife Louann, Mark Lawlor and his wife Barbara, Todd Lawlor, and Adam Lawlor and his wife Linda; his nieces and nephews Catherine, Jeremy, Lewis, Brian, Meghan, Piper, and Regan; as well as his grandniece Madison. Peter was predeceased by his Mother, Phyllis T. Masella, and his nephew Christopher. A Wake will be held on Monday September 10, 2018 during the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Flynn Funeral and Memorial Centers, located at 3 Hudson Street in Chester, NY 10918. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Columba R.C. Church, with Father John Bonnici officiating, located at 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918. Burial will immediately follow at the family plot in St. Columba R.C. Cemetery, located on Route 94 in Chester, NY 10918. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Peter's name to The Newburgh Ministry, 9 Johnston Street, Newburgh, New York 12550.
