Penelope Anne Maurice

Penelope Anne “Penny” Maurice passed away unexpectedly on September
26, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital.

The second of three children born to the late Helen Merritt- Loxton
and Dennis Loxton, Penny (as she was affectionately called) was born
on October 12, 1950 in Summit, New Jersey. Penny was a retired nurse,
most notably working for Access Supports for Living for nearly 30
years. Many of her coworkers became lifelong friends and she valued
each and every one of them.

In November 1979, Penny married the late Mario Maurice. They would
later welcome their only child, a daughter, Meghan. Penny was a devout
Christian, whose faith never waivered. She was known for her kind,
encouraging nature. She would often spend evenings playing card games
and socializing with her friends. Penny loved to laugh and was known
for her wheeze when she thought something was particularly hilarious.
She had a passion for genealogy and enjoyed researching both her
maternal and paternal familial lineage. She had a particular interest
in British History, mostly due to her father who served with Royal
Navy until emigrating to the US in the late 1940's.

In addition to her parents, Penny was predeceased by her loving
husband Mario and brother Dennis, whom she has undoubtedly been
reunited with in heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Meghan Tantono and son-in-law Carter
Tantono of New Windsor, NY; and her four beloved granddaughters,
Arabella, Sophie, Mia and Emma Tantono. She is also survived by a
brother, David Loxton and his wife Carolyn Loxton of Ramsey, NJ;
nephews Trevor Loxton (Laura) of Fort Wayne, IN, Colin Loxton (Allen)
of Chicago, IL, Eric Loxton (Stephanie) of Atlanta, GA, niece Allison
Pierantoni (Jason) of Oradell, NJ, cousins Beth Leslie (Ralph) of
Lakewood Ranch, FL and Susan Aubrey of Jupiter, FL.

A memorial service to honor Penny’s life will be held on Sunday,
November 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 1790 Route
211 East, Middletown, New York, 10941. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Penny’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
