Paul S. Spina of Chester, NY, a retired Truck Driver for Chester Valley Inc. in Chester, NY, and a lifelong resident of the area, died September 15th, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill New York. He was 86 years of age. The son of the late Joseph and Anna Vasta Spina he was born in Chester, New York. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he served with the 5th Armored Battalion and also as a Military Police Officer in the Philippines. Paul was a 66 year member of The American Legion Post 1167 in Chester. He was a past Sergeant in the Fire Police for Walton Engine and Hose of the Chester Fire Department as well as a Life Member of the Department. He was a longtime member of the Chester Republican Club serving as a Committee Man. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara Cathy Spina of 58 years, and their children; Joseph, Jill, Paul and Wendy Spina, William and longtime companion Dora Corelli, Melanie Spina-Moore and her husband Michael, and his son in law Dennis Johnson. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; Joseph Spina Jr., Ashley and Erin Johnson, Jesse Mallory and Matthew Spina, Corey and Valerie Moore, and Santino Corelli. Paul is also survived by his nieces and nephews Anthony, Linda and Maryann Fichera. He was predeceased by both of his parents and a sister Grace Fichera Family statement: "We will greatly miss his quirky sense of Humor, he always made us laugh." Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 during the hours 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Flynn Funeral and Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918. The American Legion Post 1167 shall conduct services at 7:00 PM and the Chester Fire Department shall conduct Firematic services 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Columba R.C. Church, 29 High Street, Chester, New York, 10918 at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 with Fr. John Bonnici officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Columba R.C. Parish Cemetery.
