Paul Richard Hutzelmann, 85, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Beloved husband of 32 years to Ann (ne Hanengraf) Hutzelmann and brother-in-law to Alicia Hutzelmann and Eugenia Donahue. Loving father of Eric (Teri) Hutzelmann, Krista (Hugh) Williams, Scott Hutzelmann, Ann Marie (Doug) Mulholland, Aileen (Michael) Mahon, Patricia (Michael) Viola and Jennifer (Richard) Dellolio. Loving grandfather of Amanda (Randon) Hoselton, Denali Hutzelmann, Lyndsay, Kate and Daniel Williams, Lyric (Emma) and Jack Hutzelmann, Debra Mulholland, Kathleen (Ashley) Pynn, Mary Apuzzo, Tara, Michael, Brian and Kevin Mahon, Anthony and Michael Viola, Joseph and Ashley Dellolio, Christina (Brian) Van Voorhis, Christopher (Nicole) Bissetta and great-grandfather of Enoch, Zadok and Acacia Hoselton, Ava Mahon, Winton Pynn, Nicholas Cazeau, Mason and Ryan Van Voorhis. Paul is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jill (Chaz) Shaw, Terri (Thomas) Grifa, James (Wendy) Hutzelmann, Matthew (Gina) Hutzelmann, Mary (James) Gorman, Theresa (Carlos) Ramirez-Apuzzo, Anthony (Melissa) Apuzzo, Robert Apuzzo, Michael John Donahue, Amanda (Paul) Keiser, and Erin (Michael) Hall. Paul also loved his many grand-nieces, grand-nephews and other relatives who he always cared for as if they were his own.
Paul was born in Queens, NY to Elizabeth Anna (ne Jochheim) and George Hutzelmann. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret (ne Hutzelmann) Gruber, brother George Hutzelmann, brother and sister-in-laws Richard and Florence Bissetta, Anthony and Helen Apuzzo, Michael Donahue and niece Florence Bissetta.
Paul proudly served his country in the US Army from 1959 to 1962 and was stationed overseas in Korea. He resided in Rockland County for over 50 years and was a resident of Stony Point for 32 years. Paul was employed as a communications technician for Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1999. He was a faithful member of Saint Thomas Lutheran Church in Central Nyack where he served many years on the Parish Council. Paul enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, coaching little league, camping with family and friends, boating and fishing on the Hudson River, in the Adirondacks and in the Hampton Bays, rebuilding model trains, watching Mash and The Price is Right and playing ball with his puppies Baby and Scruffy. But most of all he loved traveling on cruises to faraway places with his wife, Ann, sharing great meals together and dancing the night away.Please keep Paul and his family in your prayers during this difficult time. A memorial celebration of Paul's life will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Saint Thomas Lutheran Church, 2 Old Ox Rd, Central Nyack, NY. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with a service honoring the deceased following at 11:00am. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place 10:30am on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
