Nicholas A. Ierardi, a 43 year resident of the Chester community died at Orange Regional Medical Center on April 27, 2015. He was 85 years of age. The son of the late Joseph and Caterina Ierardi, Nicholas was born in Brooklyn, New York in the year 1929. Nick was a retired Building Inspector who was employed by the N.Y.C. Housing Authority for a period of 24 years. He was a member of the American Legion Orange Blossom Post #1167; the B.P.O.E. Middletown Elks #1097; the Chester Golden Age Club as well as the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 212 of Goshen, New York. Nick loved to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed the company of his many friends and social club members, playing cards and taking trips. He was a true patriot who served in the Navy and continued his service through the American Legion. At home, Nick enjoyed gardening and fixing things around the house. He was an avid reader of history books. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ierardi at home. He is also survived by his children, sons Joseph Ierardi and his wife, Kyle of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Patrick Ierardi and his wife, Suzanne Christoff of Goshen, New York and by his daughter, Barbara Claudio and her husband, Joe of Warwick, New York. Nick's five grand-children, Nicholas; Sam; Joseph; Michael and Dylan as well as his sister, Patricia Longo and his brother, Amadeo Ierardi and his many nieces and nephews also survive him. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 during the hours of 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc. located at 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Columba R.C. Church, located at 29 High Street, Chester, New York 10918. Interment will follow at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Nick's name to The American Legion, Post #1167 would be greatly appreciated by his family.
