Matthew "Matt" Tarnowski, a 40 year resident of the area, died March 2, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Matt was 70 years of age. The son of the late Albert and Clara Tarnowski, Matt was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1943. He was an Electrical Maintainer who worked for the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority for a period of 27 years. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 477, Project Children and was a volunteer for the Association of the Visually Impaired (AVI). To Matt, family always came first. He was a loving husband and devoted father to his children. Matt was a wonderful grandfather who loved watching his grandsons play baseball. He had a strong attention to craftsmanship and detail; he was an avid reader and a puzzle master. He had a great appreciation of nature and could often be found outside barbecuing. Matt's quick wit and sense of humor will forever be remembered by all those who loved him, especially his family. Matt is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Tarnowski at home; his daughters Sandi Tarnowski of Brooklyn, New York; Pat and husband Dan deLyra of Freeport, New York as well as Denise and husband Ed Guido of Goshen, New York. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Dominic and Joseph Guido. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 during the hours of 2 to 4:00 PM & 6 to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Sacred Heart R.C. Church located at 26 Still Road, Monroe, New York 10950 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Thomas Byrnes officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924. The family has requested that you refrain from Memorial Flowers as a token of sympathy, instead please make a memorial contribution to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, New York 12250 or to Sacred Heart Parish Outreach, (for Our Father's Kitchen) 26 Still Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
