Family Statement Mary E. Auchard (nee Thorn) the first born child of William Thorn and Gussie Scharf. She was born in North Bergen, NJ on March 2, 1927, where she resided until moving to NYC in her early teens.
She met her beloved, Victor Edward Auchard, and they married on August 31, 1946. They lived in Jersey City, NJ until sometime in 1954, when they moved with their daughters to Monroe, NY. Thereafter, they were blessed with their two sons. They lived in Monroe until 1979, when they, and their youngest son, moved to Mesa, AZ; where their eldest daughter and her family resided. They enjoyed their retirement in AZ exploring the beautiful landscape and desert climate. In 2006, they moved back east and resided in Rockwood, TN., until Victor passed in 2008. Mary then visited her children in each of their homes until deciding to live with her youngest son in Mississippi. One of the pastimes she enjoyed was listening to the music of Hank Snow and Jim Reeves. We recall our parents wedding song was entitled "Honeymoon on a Rocketship", which we made sure we played at their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Mary loved to knit and always had some project in hand. She made countless baby blankets, sweaters, mittens and socks for those she loved and many of those items are still being used and are treasured by those who received them. Of her favorite items to knit were tablecloths and doilies for under lamps and like items. This was a truly amazing talent. One thing I must say, however, she did not enjoy crotcheting and when she would ask me to pick out something for her to make, inevitably, it would be crotcheted. Needless to say, that did not make her happy. Another pastime was her love of crossword puzzles, and she was an expert at solving them. I think that was one reason she was alert and aware as she aged, she kept her mind active and brain functioning. Whenever I would speak with her over the phone, and would say hello; her response would be " I know who this ishows Alfie?" my dogso now you know who rated. She had a love for all cats and dogs, and would quip that she didnt trust anyone who didnt like animals. Be kind to them always. I hope all of her beloved pets met her on the rainbow bridge. So, Mom, we as we say our final goodbye, know that you are loved and we will hold your memory in our hearts forever.
