Martial G. Roger

March 4, 1949 — July 25, 2024

Warwick, N.Y.

Martial Gerald Alain Roger, born on March 4, 1949, in Paris, France, to Liliane Azaria and Maurice Roger, passed away on July 25th surrounded by his loving family.

Following the tragic loss of his biological mother during his childbirth, his father, Maurice, remarried a few years later.

Martial spent his early and teenage years in Mitry-Le-Neuf, France with his father, stepmother Gisele, and three siblings: Andre, Jacques, and Liliane.

Martial served in the French Navy and was stationed in Madagascar for one year.

Upon returning to France, he met his future wife, Ketty, on a Parisian train station platform in 1970 while she was on vacation.

After a one-year long-distance courtship with Ketty, she returned to France, and after reuniting in person, Martial proposed to her.

Together, they returned to the U.S. and moved to Brooklyn, where they married in January 1971.

They welcomed their daughter Natalie later that same year and their son Gerald seven years after Natalie.

They eventually settled in Goshen, New York, where they built a beautiful life for their family.

A pressman by trade, Martial retired after 45 years of dedicated work.

Martial was a kind gentleman, a social magnet, full of life, candor, and spontaneity.

He was an avid reader, a jazz and blues enthusiast, and a collector of coins, matchboxes, and watches.

He loved astronomy and watching Westerns, especially ones starring his favorite actor, Clint Eastwood. He also had a sweet tooth for desserts, with ice cream at the top of his list.

Martial always told stories that were captivating and kept everyone entertained.

He loved his family deeply, often saying, "Family is sacred," and always stayed in touch with his loved ones, insisting, "I want to hear the voice of someone I love."

Martial was an exceptional father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his adventurous and playful spirit, charisma, witty humor, and energy. He will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.

Martial is predeceased by his parents, his wife Ketty Louhisdon-Roger, and his brothers, Andre and Jacques.

He is survived by his daughter Natalie Fulton (Raymond), son Gerald Roger (Tara), grandsons Elisha, Jacob, Gabriel, and Noah, great-granddaughter Katalina Gonzalez, his sister Liliane, and his nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 3, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
