Marion Boo, a life-long resident of the area, died February 1, 2017 at Highland Rehabilitation Center. She was 92 years of age. Marion was the daughter of the late John Alton and Marion Adelle (Bush) VanCleef. Marion was born December 21, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, where she met her loving husband Martin R. Boo who predeceased her by many years. Marion was the long time manager of the Mobil Station in Chester. She was also a cashier for IGA and ShopRite, and a seamstress in the Arrow Shirt factory formerly in downtown Chester. She loved to sew and crochet, but most of all loved all of her family that has grown to be spread far beyond its tiny Brooklyn roots. Survivors include her children: Barbara and husband Edward Kania of Florida, New York; Martin Boo and wife Gail of Charleston, South Carolina; Stephanie and husband Stephen Valastro of Callicoon, New York; her beloved sister Vivian Oser of Monroe, New York; her son-in-law Joseph Rake of Chester, New York; her grandchildren Edward, John, Michael, and Robert Kania, Kimberly and Robert Rake, Jennifer, Stephen and John Valastro, and Erin and Eric Boo, , and sixteen great-grandchildren and scores of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Marion was also pre-deceased by her daughter Linda Rake, infants Susan and Stephen, as well as her brothers Stanley, William, and John Alton VanCleef, as well as her sister Mary Lou Manna. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 during the hours of 4 to 7 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. Internment services will be private. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, online at www.bcrfcure.org, or by mail to 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
