Peggy Toohey, a retired Medical Assistant for Doctors McMillian & Knipp of Washingtonville, N.Y., a resident of Morris Plains, NJ, and a former longtime resident of Blooming Grove, New York, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, at Villar Marie Cliare Residential Hospice in Saddle River, N.J. She was 89, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service in the medical field.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Cawley, she was born in New York City in 1934.
Peggy was the widowed of Thomas E. Toohey.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a 50-year Parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Washingtonville, N.Y., and the President of the Round Hill School PTA, she played an active role in her community. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and deeply loved the beach, particularly Cape May, New Jersey.
She is survived by her children, Daniel and his wife Josephine Toohey of Goshen, N.Y., Brian and Tara Toohey of Southport, North Carolina, Thomas & Marguerite Toohey of Morris Plains, New Jersey, and Timothy and Shelia Toohey of Millsboro, Delaware.
Her grandchildren Meghan, Kayla, Danielle, Christopher, Matthew, Liam, Anna, and Shannon Toohey, along with her great-grandchildren Tyler, Ryleigh, Dylan Toohey, Cecilia and Everly Sabbagh, and Lilianne and Connor Parker, also survive her.
Peggy is also survived by her brother, John Cawley.
She was also preceded by her parents, her devoted husband Thomas, and siblings Anna May Kolb, Josephine Purcell, Thomas Cawley, and Eugene Cawley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, between 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950 (845) 783-1811.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church 42, Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, N.Y. 10992.
Burial will follow at 11:15 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church Cemetery, 2 Fr. Tierney Circle, Washingtonville, N.Y. 10992.
Brendan and Thomas Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers have been entrusted with Peggy's care.
