Linda Young, age 74, passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2022 at home in Monroe, NY. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ned Young. Linda is survived by her daughter Kerri Flynn, her husband Tyler, and their children Shaymus (6) and Kelsey (4). Linda also leaves behind her brother Thomas McCann and wife Loraine, brothers-in-law Bill Young and his late wife Betty, Don Young, and wife Gloria, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Linda received her undergraduate degree from St.John's University, Queens, NY in Finance. She worked on Wall Street for 7 years as a stockbroker before getting married and moving to Monroe, NY. Linda earned her Master's Degree in Education from Dominican College in Rockland County; she had a great passion for helping children achieve their academic goals. Linda started her career teaching elementary school, then worked for many years in Special Education. Linda was enlightened by the difference she was able to make in the lives of the students she worked with. At the end of her teaching career, Linda taught at a juvenile correctional facility where she helped the residents work toward their high school diplomas, and thoroughly prepared them for success as they returned to society.
Linda was a devoted Catholic and was very involved with her church, Sacred Heart in Monroe. NY. Linda was an inspiration to others in her church community and continued her passion for helping people find their direction through faith when she saw the need of others. Linda believed in the power of prayer and she loved God.
Linda had a great love for reading and sat on the Board of The Moffat Library in Washingtonville, NY for many years.
Linda was a wonderful person who loved to teach, loved to give back and loved her family and friends. She was always willing to help others. She was a woman who could see the good in any situation and had a kind, generous heart. Linda was a true friend and colleague to many. Lindas family was very important to her, and she was an amazing mother and grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren whenever possible. Linda will truly be missed by all.
Family and friends whose lives Linda touched, are invited to attend her visitation which will be held on Friday January 14, 2022, during the hours of 4:30 to 7:30 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church located at 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY 10950.
Burial will follow at Cemetery of the Highlands located at 634 NY-32 #640, Highland Mills, NY 10930.
