It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Leduvina Rosa Velez. She died peacefully at home on October 12th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old.
Rosa was a longtime resident of Chester, NY, where she lived with her husband, John, her daughter Barbara and her son-in-law, Michael. Her favorite part of the day was waking to the sound of birds chirping outside her window as she enjoyed her morning cup of coffee.
She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Columba R.C. Church, where she attended Mass every Sunday morning. It brought her much comfort and peace.
Rosa was also a member of the Chester Golden Age Club. She participated in many outings and made many dear friends throughout the years.
Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes. She often spent many hours in her garden and once helped to plant over two hundred red tulips. It was a spectacular sight to behold when in bloom!
She had a deep love and compassion for animals, especially her dogs. They brought much laughter and joy to her life, especially the latest family addition, Gracie, a spunky and spirited Yorkie.
But most importantly, Rosa loved her family wholeheartedly. Her world revolved around her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was the kindest, most unselfish person you could ever meet. She was unconditional love in its purest form. We were blessed to be part of her life for so long, and she will be forever adored and missed.
Rosa is survived by John, her beloved husband of 70 years; her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Michael; her sons John and Stanley; Her grandchildren David, Charlie, and Lindsay, and great-grandchildren Michael, PJ, Alex, and Xavier.
She will also be greatly missed by her brother Willie, his wife Mary, her sister Blanca and her nieces and nephews Elsie, Vilma, Linda, Eddie, Johnny, David J, Cookie, Ruben, David Q, Iris, Peggy, Robert, Melissa, and Gary.
Rosa was predeceased by her parents, Juan and Maria, and her siblings, Nino, Margo, Nita, Nellie, Paco, and Nancy, along with one nephew, Junior, and her niece, Ellie.
