Karen was the firstborn child of Phyllis and Morris Pegram. She was raised in Long Island, NY along with her six siblings. She made Warwick, NY her home for the past 18 years. Karen graduated from Stony Brook University in Long Island NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She later completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Phoenix (Online). She was employed with New York-Presbyterian Hospital for 34 years. Karen was a single parent of one child, a daughter Monique. Karen adored her daughter Monique to whom she showed unconditional love along with her three grandchildren. Karen was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 30, 2002. As a servant of Jehovah she was active in her Christian Ministry and volunteered in First Aide at theocratic assemblies and conventions. In addition, she assisted with the construction of new Kingdom Halls by working in the plumbing department of the Regional Building Committee (RBC). On October 29, 2011 during a Nor'easter, Karen married Jeffrey Johnson; the man, who loved, complimented, encouraged and supported Karen until she took her last breath. Karen possessed the most beautiful, reassuring smile which brought comfort and peace to so many. To know Karen meant you knew she loved to shop, which explained her exquisite fashion sense. Karen was an avid cook, her specialties were lasagna and her mother's potato salad. If you came for a meal at Karen's home and she fixed you a plate, expect to eat like a king and be prepared to loosen your belt a couple of notches. She enjoyed fried catfish and going to her favorite restaurant BBQ's. The loss of Karen in death means we will miss the qualities we've come to admire such as her love, kindness, generosity, compassion, care, and humility. Karen enjoyed studying God's Word the Bible and preparing for the Christian meetings. She was always prepared to express her love for Jehovah through her comments. Karen was meticulous, extremely neat and clean. If you had been to her home, you knew not to touch her perfectly positioned sofa pillows and to remove your shoes at the door. Karen spent many hours playing Scattegories, Scrabble and going to the movies with her husband, Jeff. She loved her husband and her husband loved her so very much. Karen is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her daughter Monique Nelson (David), her six siblings, Laura Pegram, Jeffery Pegram (Tammy), Steven Pegram, Aaron Pegram, Lisa Holt and Rodney Pegram (Lenay); her grandchildren Devante, Genesis, David(Avery); her nieces and nephews, Imani, Kiana, Jazmin, Robert (Robbie), Jada, Janai, Sydney and Alexander (Alex) along with a host of friends and relatives.
