Joseph Moran

Joseph P. Moran Jr., 57, of Maybrook, New York, entered in to rest, Saturday, August 28th in Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, New York. A loving son, brother and friend, Joseph was born in Bronx, New York on June 4th, 1964, to Joseph P. and Betty (Shapiro) Moran Sr. He graduated from Washingtonville Senior High School in 1982. Joseph managed the Criterion Theater in Manhattan in the early to mid-1980's, and more recently worked as a Claims Specialist for Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America College Retirement Equity Fund (TIAA-CREF). Joseph also took an interest in photography earlier in his life. He was a spectator of various sports, but his passion was rooting for the New York Yankees. Joseph enjoyed meeting people and talking with them about anything from sports to politics. Joseph's most loving act was devoting himself to care for his mother in her final years after her having sustained a serious illness. Joseph will be remembered by his family and friends as a warm, kind person with a great smile, hearty laugh, and being and all around "Nice Guy". Joseph was predeceased by his parents, maternal (David and Libbie Shapiro) and paternal (Martin Moran and Mary Rainey). He is survived by his brother, Christopher J. Moran and sister, Irene E. (Moran) Kurlander, of Maybrook, New York. Joseph is also survived by several cousins. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Kaplan Family Hospice Residence for their kind and compassionate care of Joseph during his final days. A private family service was held prior to his cremation at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., located in Chester, New York. A celebration of his life will take place at a future date and time. The family requests that memorial remembrances be sent to a charity reflecting their memory of Joseph. Funeral arrangements and cremation care have been entrusted to Thomas and Brendan Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral Home & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
