Joseph C. Lowicki of Chester, NY a retired Police Officer for the City of Philadelphia Police Department and a 2 year resident of the area died peacefully May 20, 2013 at Sunrise Assisted Living in New City, New York. He was 88 years of age. He was a longtime resident of Philadelphia and Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. The son of the late Walter and Loretta Lowicki he was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 28, 1925. Joe proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II; he served in the campaigns in Iwo Jima, Saipan and Tinian and was wounded in Iwo Jima. He was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Monroe, the American Legion Post 488 of Monroe and the Monroe Council of the Knights of Columbus 2079. He was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Archbishop Ryan Assembly in Philadelphia. He was also active in the Fraternal Order of Police Philadelphia Lodge 5. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Josephine and his brothers Chester, Henryck, Stanley, and his sisters Helen, Anna, Loretta, Stephanie, Maryianna, Anastasia and Viola. He is survived by his son Ronald Lowicki and his wife Carla of Las Vegas, NV, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, along with his caregiver and provider Lorraine Heuberger and her husband James of Chester, NY. The family would like to thank the staff of Calvary Hospice Home Care and the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living of Jackson, NJ and New City, NY. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 during the hours of 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, New York 10950. Entombment will follow in hThe New St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel & Mausoleum 515 West Browning Road, Bellmawr, New Jersey 08031. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Daniel F. Pujdak Scholarship Fund at St. Francis Preparatory (sfponline.org) 6100 Francis Lewis Blvd. Fresh Meadows, NY 11365. Daniel was a grand nephew who was a NYC Fireman that died in the line of duty.
