John William Hand

John W. Hand, Sr. Formerly of Chester, New York John W. Hand, Sr., was born June 9, 1947 in Morris, NJ. He joined the United States Army as an Aviation Crew Chief and served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and a mechanic. John worked in various professions, far too many to list. Even after he was unable to work he was always happy to have a project to work on. John lived everyday as it came knowing each day was a gift that he needed to share with those he loved. John was a compassionate and spiritual man and at the end was at peace. John is survived by his wife, Eileen K. Hand, along with his 5 children Nina Valentin, John Hand Jr., Thomas Hand, William Hand, Matthew Hand and eight grandchildren: Tory Van Dunk, Dominick Valentin, Ayla Hand, Brielle Hand, Callen Hand, Olivia Hand, Annabelle Hand and Hope Hand. A Memorial Service will be held at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM with interment following with Military Honor's. Arrangements and service details have been entrusted to Thomas F. Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918.
