John E. Reed

John E. Reed, a Restaurant Design & Equipment Sales Coordinator for Keiser Restaurant Equipment, and a 32 year resident of Chester, New York died March 18, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, New York after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer with his loving family by his side. John was 71 years of age. The son of the late Vernon & Eleanor Reed, he was born in Salamanca, New York in 1942. John served his country in the United States Marine Corps and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Chester Kiwanis Club and had served as President. He was a Eagle Scout as a young man, and a Council member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 152, in Chester, NY. His children felt that "Heaven must be in need of a new kitchen, the day Dad died." John is survived by his wife Karen Sue Tripp Reed, and their children, Faye Reed, Justin Reed and his wife Natasha, Dana Reed and his wife Deborah, Ryan Reed and his wife Cary, John Reed and his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren Vincent, Kiersten, Kaitlyn, Andriah, Mikayla, Camden, John, James, and Aidan. John is also survived by his siblings Verna Jeanne Wescott and her husband Clair, Dennis Reed and his wife Carol, Thomas Reed and his wife Annette. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 during the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Columba R.C. Church, 29 High Street, Chester, New York 10918, with Fr. John Bonnici officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924.
