James Edward Davis Newburgh, New York James "SEAMUS" Davis, died July 24, 2020, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital - Newburgh Campus. He was 77 years of age. James was born at Saint Francis Hospital in the Bronx on December 29, 1942. He received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation at Our Lady of Angels Parish in the Bronx. His God parents were Marion and William Reiner. He attended Our Lady of Angels Grammar School and Rice High School in Manhattan. He was a Social Worker and Director at the Catholic Guardian Society Home for Foster Children in the Bronx. He served in United States Navy on the USS Ranier during the Vietnam War in the South China Seas. After the war he worked as a surveyor for the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a Drum Major and then leader of the Orange County Division 1 AOH Pipe and Drums in Monroe, NY. James is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife Kathleen Davis, his siblings Jean Davis Higgins, Yvonne Higgins, Gerald Davis. He is also survived by his step daughter, Christine Cody, her husband Marc, and his step grandchildren, Colin and Avery, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends who enjoyed his company and sense of fun. James was predeceased by his sister, Regina Toolan. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2020, during the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950. The AOH Pipes and Drums have reserved the time period of 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM in order to acknowledge and honor James' commitment to the band. The remaining AOH Division 1 is invited to gather outside the funeral home at 6:15 PM to prepare for a 6:30 PM prayer service. The Ladies AOH will hold a separate prayer at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, July 31, 2020, at St. Anastasia R.C. Church located at 21 North Main Street, Harriman, NY 10926. In order to avoid overcrowding and accommodate everyone wishing to pay their respects to Mr. Davis, we ask that you email flynnoffice@gmail.com with your full name, telephone number, and address (including any additional individuals in your group) with a preferred time slot. Be advised due to continued restrictions visitations will be limited to 15 minutes in order to accommodate additional groups. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
