James B. Bonomi, Sr. Chester, New York One Proud American James B. Bonomi, Sr. of Chester, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends, with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. He was 85 years of age. The son of the late Benjamin and Marietta Bonomi, he was born in Glens Falls, New York in 1928. James graduated from the Fashion Institute of New York. A Computer Grader, he was employed by Jonathan Logan, a Division of R&K Originals for a duration of 30 years. His passions were boating, fishing, golfing, red cars, going out to Dinner and Dunkin Donuts coffee. James proudly served his Nation in the United States Army having served in both World War II and the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars. James married his wife Joan in 1956 in Yonkers, New York. In two weeks they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage. In their many years together James, also known as "Pops" loved to travel with his wife. Together they saw many parts of Europe. In the winter months they would become "snow birds" by traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where they looked forward to their grand children's visits. Summers were spent on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. James was a member of the American Legion Post 488, Chester, NY, The Orange County Veterans of Foreign War, The Disabled American Veterans, The Middletown Elks Lodge 1097, The Chester Golden Age Club and the Romeo's (Retired Old Men Eating Out!). James was a parishioner of St. Columba R.C. Church. Survivors include his loving wife Joan at home; and their children, daughter Michelle and her husband Kenneth of Chester, New York; his sons James Bonomi, Jr. of Chester, New York and Joseph and his wife Karen Bonomi (his other daughter) of Washingtonville, New York. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Charles James (CJ) and Joseph, who were the light of his life. James was predeceased by his sister, JoAnne Graves. After a long, heroic fight we would like to thank the Orange Regional Medical Center nursing staff, many he considered friends, and all others that took such great care of him, allowing him to pass with dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918 during the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Columba R.C. Church, located at 29 High Street, Chester, New York 10918. Fr. John Bonnici will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas F.
