On Wednesday March 24th, Jake Conklin, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Perry Conklin. Jake was born and raised in Southfields, New York, where he attended his famous school - The Southfields High Institute of Technology. He married his wife, Sandie Spivak 56 years ago, whom he met at her father's business - The Long Pond Inn. They resided in Greenwood Lake, and later moved and settled in Monroe. Jake was predeceased by his sons Jason and Jeff, and his brother Jim. Survivors include his wife Sandie from Monroe, daughter Cindi and husband Jorge Arias, from Suffern, Dave Conklin, and his wife Irene, from Monroe; Stephanie Conklin-Cole from Monroe, and Steven Conklin & his wife Tracey from Cary, NC; his nine grandchildren, Hope, Jessica, and Jake Conklin; Daniel and Cassie Arias; Mackenzie and Skylar Conklin; and Alexia and Jason Cole; and his four great grandchildren, Paisley, Luka and Colton Rivera and Parker Dawn Benincasa. He is also survived by his siblings Betty Langberg, John Conklin, Nancy Mallon and Christine Oetzel Although he had a passion for hunting and fishing, nothing was more important to him than his family. Jake was an avid outdoorsman and shared and passed on his passions to his sons. He volunteered for many civic organizations - as a board member and coaching little league baseball for his children and grandchildren, The Monroe Ambulance, and several years hosting fundraisers for his Son, the "Police Officer Jason D. Conklin Memorial Scholarship Fund", in honor of his late Son Jason, who died in the line of duty, while serving The Tuxedo community. He also attended The Long Island Real Estate School, which he worked at for 2 years. Later he started his own carpentry business, J.C. Carpentry, followed by his photography business, Photo Techniques by Jake. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 during the hours of 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Life Celebration will conclude the visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home, which can be viewed online please see details below. The family of Jake Conklin has specifically requested that In lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions in Jake's name be made to The Tuxedo Historical Society, 7 Hospital Road, PO Box 188, Tuxedo Park, NY 10987; TuxedoHistory@gmail.com. The memorial donations would be deeply appreciated by the family, due to Jake's interest in the local community history.
