Growing up, she attended Duleek's Girls National School and St. Mary's School. At the young age of 17, she left Ireland for Toronto, Canada. On her first day in Toronto, she met her future husband, John Francis Ward. The two were married on October 1, 1960. In 1961, they immigrated to the United States, and settled in Astoria, Queens, New York. With their growing family, they moved to Rutherford, New Jersey, in 1965. During that time, the Ward's purchased and operated Leprechaun Stationery at 6 Park Avenue, Rutherford, which later became known as the Ward Building. In 1984, John and Grace moved to Winter Park, Florida, and became very active in their community. After the passing of her loving husband, Grace relocated to Boynton Beach, Florida. Grace found comfort in the Irish culture in the neighborhood. In 2007, she designed and built a home in Monroe, New York, to be closer to her family during the spring and summer months. Grace was very proud of her Irish heritage and made yearly trips to visit family and friends in Ireland. She loved Irish music, and could always be found doing a "jig" on the dance floor. Grace enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, creating stained glass art, playing Irish card games, and she was also an avid day trader. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Ward, and is survived by her three children: Deborah Wayman, Linda and her husband Kenneth Nicastro, and John M. Ward, and her grandchildren: Tiffany Wayman, Lindsey and her husband Ryan Barden, William Wayman, Theresa Nicastro, and Michelle Nicastro.
