Grace A. Jennings, a retired homemaker of Washingtonville, New York, a longtime resident of the area, died on January 30, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.

Grace, the daughter of the late Roland and Agnes DeSerio, was born on September 10, 1950, in Hackensack, N.J.

There is not one single word that could describe the woman Grace was, but we will go with Amazing. She was the perfect wife, mother, caregiver, grandmother, sister, aunt, and Godmother. You could always count on her for anything. She loved spending time with her husband, and it didn’t matter what they were doing as long as they were together. 

She enjoyed playing cards with her siblings and completing her word search book. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Family always came first to Grace. To know her was to love her.

Grace will truly be missed and remembered always and forever.

Grace is survived by her loving husband, Roland Jennings, at home, and her children Eric (Erin) Jennings of Monroe, N.Y., Andrea Jennings (Nick) of Washingtonville, N.Y., Catherine Jennings Torres of Washingtonville, N.Y., and William Cruger (Rachael) of Chester, NY.

Her nine grandchildren, Eric, Jr., Katelyn, Jayce, Janessa, Jullianna, Lucas, Jaclyn, Michael, Ellayna, and numerous nieces and nephews loved her dearly and survived her.

Her siblings Edwina Mackey, Dominick DeSerio, and Faith Bass also survive Grace; she was pre-deceased by her son Roland Jennings and siblings Albert Thorne, Thomas Thorn, Regina Thorne, Winifred Ludwig, Catherine Jennings, and Hope Pittinger.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 12 noon to 2:00 pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.

A Prayer service will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Graveside services will follow at St. Mary’s R.C. Cemetery, 2 Fr. Tierney Circle, Washingtonville, New York 10992, at 2:45 pm.
