Mr. Gene P. Iannuzzi, a man of remarkable achievements, served as the esteemed Chief of Police for the Town of Chester, N.Y. Police Department and as the Management Director for Nynex Phone Company. He passed away on May 24, 2024, at Garnet Medical Center in Wallkill, N.Y., leaving a legacy of dedication and service.

He was 91 years of age.

Family Statement: 
Gene was a passionate husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Most of his time was dedicated to his family and creating lasting memories with them all. Gene was an avid hunter, passionate storyteller, and dedicated John Wayne fan. He grew up in Harlem, NY, and often referenced detailed stories from his upbringing. Anyone who knew Gene knew how much he loved spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While all surviving family members greatly miss him, it gives the family peace knowing he is reunited with his wife, Dolores, and daughter, Gina. Gene was known to say the greatest gift God gives is one's memories, and he has gifted his family and friends with many. The son of the late Isabelle & Vito Iannuzzi, he was born in 1933 in New York City.

Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dolores Iannuzzi, his daughter, Gina Mastrantoni, and his sister, Connie D'Agostino.

Gene is survived by a loving and united family, including his sons, Victor and his wife, Kathy Iannuzzi, Gene and his wife Joanne Iannuzzi, Anthony and Celeste Iannuzzi, and his son-in-law, Thomas Mastrantoni. Their strength and unity in this challenging time is a testament to the love and support that Gene fostered.

His grandchildren are Gene and Kaitlyn Iannuzzi, Vinny and Lindsay Iannuzzi, Nick and Laura Iannuzzi, Victor Iannuzzi, Mike and Michelle Iannuzzi, Paul Iannuzzi, Dean Iannuzzi, Jonny and Kazimiera Iannuzzi, Sonya and German Sanmateu, Peter and Lucy Iannuzzi, Samantha and Richard Wahmann, Gabriella Mastrantoni, Daniella Mastrantoni, and Massimo Mastrantoni.

Gene's great-grandchildren are Gene Iannuzzi, III, Cameron Iannuzzi, Lia Iannuzzi, Caleb Iannuzzi, Olivia Iannuzzi, Luke Iannuzzi, Declan Wahmann, and Lola Iannuzzi.

He was also survived by his brother, Lawrence Iannuzzi, and many nieces and nephews survived him.

Visitation, a time for friends and family to pay their respects, will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 31, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.

Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Military Honors at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924.

Brendan, Thomas Flynn, and Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center staff have guided Gene's care.
