Francesco Urso

Francesco "Frank" Urso, a 50 year resident of Chester, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 9th at his home, in the presence of his family. Frank was born on September 15th, 1935 in Sicily. He traveled throughout Europe learning his trade of barbering and came to the United States in 1965. On October 30th of that year, he married Mildred Pirrello at Our Lady of Miracles in Brooklyn NY. Together, Frank and Millie raised three children, had seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Frank was owner and operator of Frank's Barbershop in Greenwood Lake, NY for over 35 years. Frank enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing and spending holidays with family. He would often go to his customers' homes and to the hospital to cut their hair when they became too sick to travel to his barbershop. Frank would often cut three generations of a family's hair, as his customers would often bring their children and grandchildren to the shop. Frank was a member of St. Columba Church and a former member of the Blooming Grove Rod and Gun Club. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Frank is survived by his wife, of 55 years, at home, Mildred Urso; two daughters, Josephine Vaccaro of Bloomingburg, and Trina and son-in-law, Alex Piccolo of the Town of Wallkill; three grandsons: Jay Vaccaro of Goshen, Carter Vaccaro, wife, Amanda; and great-grandson, Ace Vaccaro of Bloomingburg, and Blaze Vaccaro, currently stationed in Japan, serving in the United States Navy. Frank's family would like to extend thanks to those who provided care and support, not only to Frank, but to his wife and daughters during this most difficult time. A Mass in celebration of Frank's life is planned for his birth month of September at St. Columba church and will be announced at a later date.
