Elvira Moocz, Ellie as most called her, joined her husband in heaven on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the age of 71. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, United in eternity to dance, laugh and smile down on their children and grandchildren.
Ellie was born July 8, 1951, in Hungary. As fate would have it, she lived only one village over from her husband, but they did not meet there. When she was just a little girl, she came to the United States with her mother, Irma Foldesi, her late father, Dennis Foldesi, and her brother, Dennis Foldesi, and her husband made it to the States 15 years later, and they fell in love at a church picnic in New Jersey.
Their love grew and became stronger as the years passed, first with marriage, then by starting their own fence business, then with the birth of their three children, Joseph, Paul, and Maria.
She gardened passionately and often came inside with dirt under her nails and a sunburn on her back. And when she needed to relax, she read, sometimes finishing a book in one night if the writing was good and the plot a real kicker.
She is survived by her three children, Joseph, Paul, and his wife Lindsay; Maria and her husband Mark; her mother, Irma; her brother Dennis and his wife Karen; and her niece Angelica. She has five grandchildren: Eric, Rebecca, Amelia, Locke, and Aspen, and countless friends that have shown their love over the years and during her last days with us.
Ellie was the sunshine on a cloudy day, the one who made you laugh, and the one who picked you up when you were down. She kissed your bruised knee. She fixed your problems, and she set aside herself to help you. She was a warrior that fought cancer. Cancer is cruel, and sometimes it wins. Instead of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County East Team or the American Cancer Society.
