Eleanor Hunderfund

Eleanor (Ellie) Hunderfund passed away on October 26, 2024 at the age of 96. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Henry Scharmer , brother Kurt, husband Cornelius (Tink), and her oldest son Donald. Surviving Ellie are her sons Gary (Stephanie, William & Kyle) and Brian (Judi, Rebecca) as well as Donald’s children Eliannah Linehan (Dave, Nolan, Emilia)) and Daniel. 

Ellie grew up in Pearl River, NY, where she met her husband, the love of her life. After marriage, Tink and Ellie moved to New City, NY, where they raised their family. 

Fawn Lake Forrest, Hawley PA was where retirement years were spent, enjoying 30+ years with family and close friends. Following Tink's passing in 2019, Ellie moved back to Rockland County, NY, to be closer to her children. 

Those close to Ellie knew she was a spirited woman who quietly navigated life’s situations, the majority of which she made sure went her way. 

She enjoyed watching sports and looked forward to her weekly lunches with close friends Curt and Mary Haines. 

If you knew Ellie, please take a moment to remember a happy memory and wish her well on her next journey. A memorial in her honor will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
