Donald Paul Ravert finally "went Home" on May 21, 2013. A long time resident of Chester, NY, Don spent his last years in Brevard, NC with his loving sister Barbara and brother-in-law Bill Voorhes close by. Born in 1931, Donald was wounded in action in North Korea in 1952 and awarded the Purple Heart... definitely an American hero. He served on the staff at Conklin's Lumber Yard in Chester for many years, and after at Spear's Lumber in Washingtonville. He was a long time part of Chester Presbyterian Church. Deeply committed to family, Donald has now been reunited with his brothers and sister as well as his Mom, Margaret Ravert Galloway. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Paashaus, and his brothers, Gene, Bob, Larry, and John Ravert and Walter Ross. The last of his generation of Ravert Men, he will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, dozens of nephews, nieces, and many more. Donald will be honored in a memorial service on May 31 in Brevard, NC and then brought to his final resting place in Chester, NY where a second memorial service will be held June 15th at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Chester (94-96 Main Street, Chester, NY 10918). Interment will be in the Chester Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship back at the church.
