Donald O'Sullivan, Sr. Chester, New York It is with great sadness that the family of Donald O'Sullivan, Sr. announces his passing on November 25, 2017, at the age of 73. Donald was a retired Homicide Detective for the City of New York, during his career with the NYPD he earned its second-highest departmental award, the Police Combat Cross. This form of recognition may be granted to members of the service who, having received Honorable Mention, successfully and intelligently perform an act of extraordinary heroism while engaged in personal combat with an armed adversary under circumstances of imminent personal hazard to life. Donald was a member of numerous organizations, including St. Columba R.C. Church, Chester, NY, the Orange County Shields, and the Joseph Duelk, Jr. Division 1, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Monroe, NY. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth (Betty) O'Sullivan. He is also survived by his children Elizabeth and her husband, Sean McGlynn; Theresa and her husband, Gerald Conlon; Donald O'Sullivan, Jr., and his wife Krysta. His grandchildren Rose, Maeve, Kathleen, Conal, Sean Patraic, Cassidy and Donald, III., also survive him. He is further survived by his brother John O'Sullivan and his wife Joan, his sister Nora McNulty and her husband Tom, and along with several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine O'Sullivan and his sister Ellen McMaster. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, during the hours of 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 11:00 AM in St. Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, New York 10918. Burial will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924. The family would like to acknowledge and deeply appreciated the professional care and compassion of the wonderful staff of the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.
