Charles Diperna

d. January 25, 2016

Charles (Celestino) DiPerna, 83, passed away on January 25, 2016. Charles was born in Isernia, Italy in 1933 and later moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1954 where he met his beautiful wife, Susan (Assunta) DiPerna, before they and their family moved to Kingston, NY in 1972, then to Chester, NY, in 1974 where they raised their children. He is the son of the late Carmelo DiPerna and Filomena DiPerna of Isernia Italy. Charles was a devoted, loving and very loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was considered by most to be the patriarch of the entire DiPerna family. He lived the American dream of working his way up in the world. With a tough as nails work ethic and a devoted family, he was able to climb the ladder of success. He was a laborer, supervisor then foremen. He was a 50+ year member of the Cement and Concrete Workers Local 6A. He worked for several construction companies in and around NYC and the tristate area for 35 years, including Dick and Underhill and Sarcon Construction. He could always be depended on to get the job done! He worked on many foundations and buildings in NYC including the infamous Twin Towers! He also was an entrepreneur and over the years he owned his own deli, garage door and landscaping businesses. He lived off the land and had a mini farm where he utilized much of his property for growing all kinds of fruits and vegetables and raising sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits and more. He had a special way of making everyone feel special and loved. He taught everyone to forgive one another and to LOVE one another. He made his own mozzarella cheese, revered by many locally in Orange County, NY. He made delicious home-made wine and loved to contribute to many meals claiming to be the best cook around! The Italian traditional Easter dish, Spezzatini, was amazing! He was the man to turn to for advice, and he was always there to help anyone in his family for whatever they needed. He loved fishing and gardening - and was so very talented at both! He was a very devoted family man that shared all of his passions, talents and love with his family. He was adored and loved by all. He will be dearly missed. Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Susan as well as by his loving children, Camille DiPerna of Kingston, NY, Dianne M. Sullivan, her husband James P.
