Barbara Spina

Barbara Cathy Spina, passed away on October 19, 2020, at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence located in Newburgh, NY. She was 87 years of age. The daughter of the late Henry and Anna Cathy, she was born in 1933 in Warwick, NY. Barbara served as a Tax Collector from 1967 until 1971; she then became the Town Clerk of Chester from 1971 until 1989. Barbara was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary, The Orange Town Clerks Association and The Senior Citizens of Chester where she held the position of secretary. Barbara was the District Chairperson for Bill Larkin, Committee Person Chester Republican Party. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will greatly miss her smile that would brighten up the room, her love and affection, her support, and her endless positivity. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Paul S. Spina. She is survived by her sons Joseph Spina of Middletown, NY, Paul Spina (Wendy Spector-Spina) of Pomona, NY, William Spina (Dora Corelli) of Pomona, NY her daughters Melanie Moore (Michael Moore) of Slate Hill, NY, Jill Spina Johnson of Middletown, NY. Her nine grandchildren, Ashley, Erin, Joe, Jesse, Mallory, Matthew, Corey, Valarie and Santino, her four great grandchildren, Izaiah, Alexander, Isabella and Savannah and several nieces and nephews also survive her. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020, during the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 3 Hudson Street, Chester, NY 10918. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 11:00 AM in St. Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, N.Y. 10918. Burial will follow in the Spina family plot at St. Columba R.C. Church Cemetery, Route 94, Chester, NY 10918. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's name to The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans or The Hudson Valley Food Bank.
