Meletios Laskaris

Meletios (Mike) Laskaris of Monroe, NY a Truck Driver for Werner Enterprises of Omaha, NE., and a longtime resident of the area, died September 5, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill, New York. He was 28 years of age. The son of Dimitrios (Jimmy) and Gorete Sousa Laskaris, he was born in Bronxville, New York on February 2, 1988. Mike obtained his degree from the Unversity of Albany in Urban Planning and Geography. He was known for his gentle and kind manner, and his desire to find the good in all people. He enjoyed his position as a Truck Driver and was the first student in the history of driving school training to achieve a perfect score in his tractor trailer driving exam. He is survived by his loving parents Jimmy & Gorete Laskaris, and his brother Dimitri, all of Monroe, NY. He is also survived by his grandparents, Horacio & Maria Sousa, and Meletios Laskaris, along with uncles, Sam Montagna, Nikitas Laskaris, Horacio Sousa, and his aunts Vivian Frangos, Gina Laskaris, Laura Sousa. Several cousins, including Nick Frangos, Horacio Sousa, Kyle Sousa, Samantha Sousa, Laura Sousa, along with numerous friends survive him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Septmeber 11, 2016 during the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday, September 12, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Prayer Service will take place on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:30 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, New York.
