Gerald Joseph Sullivan

Gerald J. Sullivan of Monroe New York died on January 18th, 2016 at home surrounded by the prayerful support of his wife and family. He was born on July 23, 1932 in Manhattan. He is survived by Ellen, his wife of over 50 years, his children Helen and her husband James Peters, Teresa and her husband Michael Grasso, Kevin and his wife Milagros Sullivan, Laura and her husband John Gralton, Brendan and his wife Ai Sullivan, Marian and her husband Michael Iovino, Fr. Paul Sullivan, Stephen and his wife Lisa Sullivan. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas and Vincent. Gerald was the loving grandfather of 24 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Nora, his brother John, and his sister Mary. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Parish, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Joseph Duelk, Jr. Division 1, Monroe, NY, and Orange County Right to Life. He served as a Court Officer at the New York State Supreme Court. He also served honorably as a medic in the U.S. Army, during the time of the Korean War. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate, P.O. Box 658. Monroe, New York 10950. There will be visitation on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 during the hours of 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., locate at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart R.C. Church located at 26 Still Road, Monroe, New York 10950. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Paul G. Sullivan, and Fr. Thomas Byrnes. Interment will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, located at 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York 10924. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas F. Flynn, and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
