George E. Grumbach Chester, New York George E. Grumbach, a 45 year resident of Chester, New York, died June 18, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill, New York. George was 55 years of age, and was a maintenance worker for New York State for the past 30 years. The son of George and Margaret Phillips Grumbach, he was born on March 28, 1959 in the Bronx. George was a member of the Chester Republican Committee, The Bowling Assocation, and was an active member of St. Columba R.C. Church, where he served his parish as both a Lector and Usher. George is survived by his parents George and Margaret Grumbach at home, and his sister Margaret (Peg) Ziegler, and her husband Chuck, and their children Sarah and Charlie of Sparta, NJ. Further he is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins, who loved George very much. George graduated from Harriman College, and he was an avid sports enthusiast. He looked forward to taking his dog for a walk at the end of the day. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida, loved the beach and fishing as well. His favorite pastimes were playing yard and board games with his family. George cherished life, people and funny stories. He was truly a sentimental soul with a heart of gold. A Family statement reads: "Mom says, I love you sweetie". "George was our Angel on earth." Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 during the hours of 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM, at The Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 and is scheduled for 11:00 AM, at St. Columba R.C. Church, which is located at 29 High Street, Chester, New York 10918. Fr. John Bonnici will officate. Interment will follow at St. Columba Parish Cemetery, located on Route 94 in Chester, New York. Memorial contributions in George's name should be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 , which would be deeply appreciated by his family.
