Charles H. “Charlie” Peterson
Charles Henry “Charlie” Peterson passed away on February 6, 2024, in Nyack, New York. He was born in Suffern, NY, on April 29, 1939, to the late Henry Vahle Peterson and Elizabeth Mary McGuinness Powers. Charlie served in the United State Air Force. After his retirement from General Electric Plastics, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Charlie relocated back to New York and worked at Minisceongo Golf Club and later at Peter Brega as a bus driver. He was a very skilled, lifelong golfer, winning many amateur tournaments and for many years held the unofficial non-tournament low score at South Hills Golf Club in Parkersburg. Charlie was a member of several fraternal organizations in both West Virginia and New York including the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Jeffrey Peterson of Waco, TX; Charles Peterson II, of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Tami (Jay) Hammel; and Jennifer Sholes, both of Parkersburg, WV; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a sister, Alice Bower, of Stony Point, NY, and three half-siblings.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Peterson, a great granddaughter, Braylynn Lawhon, four brothers, and two sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Flynn’s Funeral and Cremation Memorial Center, of Monroe, NY. A graveside service date will be announced at a later date.
