Chantal Haskew (Frawley) of Highland Mills, NY passed away on August 18th, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 78 at the time of her passing. A longtime resident of Blooming Grove, NY and Pearl River, NY, Chantal was born February 3rd, 1943, in Lyon, France during World War II. She moved to the United States, Forest Hills, NY in the mid-1940s. She returned to France for a brief time as a child and then moved back to the United States to live in Arlington Heights, IL and Northport, NY with her parents, Eugene and Mavis Frawley, and seven younger siblings. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1960, where she met her future husband W. Mark, before transferring to Rosary College (currently Dominican University) in River Forest, IL. She earned her bachelor's degree in History at Rosary College, followed by her Master's in Painting in 1965 at the Villa Schifanoia PIUS XII Institute in San Domenico, Italy. Chantal was an exceptional artist and art teacher. Her artwork, ranging from abstract landscapes to vibrant watercolors, can be found hanging in numerous churches, schools, and homes across the Hudson Valley. She taught art as an adjunct faculty at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY for 28 years. Always seeking the next adventure, Chantal lived life to the fullest, traveling frequently to visit family and friends in Europe and Colorado. She was a Junior Warden at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Washingtonville, NY, and member of the choir. Beloved wife and mother of five children, Chantal received a liver transplant in 1995 at Mt Sinai Hospital; this gift of life allowed Chantal to celebrate the weddings of her five children and experience the joy of her eight grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind nature, generous spirit, and creativity. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, W. Mark Haskew of Highland Mills, NY; her children Daniel Haskew (Danielle), Adrienne Lopez (Alex), Heather Vogel (Justus), Genevieve Bouchard (Brian) and Rene Layton (Mark); her grandchildren Ariana, Alexander, Emalyn, Sage, Katelyn, Solenne, Luisa and Chantal and her siblings Patrick, Michael, Bryan, Crystal, Jacquelyn, Regina and Bernard and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Evelyn Jones, parents Eugene and Mavis Frawley and nephew Devin Reed. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday August 28th, 2021, at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Washingtonville, NY.
