Church Cemetery click to view photoalbumBiographyWilliam Francis Neilan of Chester, a retired Truck Driver and 53 year resident of the area, died April 13, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center Arden Hill Campus. He was 92 years old. William was the widower of Collette A. Neilan who died on January 17, 2003. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II, he was very involved in the Friends of Bill W, he was a member of the American Legion Chester, NY and the Chester Fire Department, along with the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Joseph F. Duelk, Jr., Division 1, Monroe, New York. He was a loving father who will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his quick wit and humor. Go Yankees! Survivors include his brother Herbert Neilan of the Bronx, NY and his children William and his wife Helen Neilan of Chester, NY, Kathy and her husband Kevin Hicks of Warwick, NY and Dennis Neilan of Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert Neilan and his wife Deanne of Norwich, NY, Barbara and husband Scott Atwood of Westtown, NY, Sandra and her husband Joseph Lily of Florida, Dennis Neilan Jr., of Florida, Kristopher and Kenneth Hicks of Warwick, NY. William's great grandchildren, Sean Atwood of Westtown and Bryan Neilan of Pennsylvania survive him also. Visitation will be Saturday, April 17 during the hours of 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Flynn Funeral and Cremation Memorial Centers, 3 Hudson St., Chester, NY 10918. Cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, NY. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Columba R.C. Church 29 High Street, Chester, New York. Bill's cremains will then be buried with his wife in the family plot at St. Columba R.C. Church Cemetery, with full Military Honors. Funeral & Cremation arrangements are under the supervision of Thomas F. Flynn, Director of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 3 Hudson Street, Chester, New York 10918.
