Many professions grant special recognition to members upon completion of a series of academic and service requirements that eclipse those of state or national licensing boards. This level of achievement is often recognized by the use of initials after one's name to signify this level of achievement.

Today, I am honored to present to you a member of the funeral service profession who has obtained the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner -- CFSP. Thomas Francis Xavier Flynn Jr, CFSP has willingly amassed 180 hours of continuing education requirements. Even in instances where states may not have formal continuing education requirements, funeral professionals across the country participate voluntarily. The fact that they have joined the Academy and worked toward this goal of certification shows that they believe in continuing education, but more importantly, the goals of the Academy.

Thomas Francis Xavier Flynn Jr, CFSP stands before you today having completed all the requirements for certification by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. The use of CFSP is now authorized and this pin serves as a tangible symbol of this significant and outstanding accomplishment. Congratulations and welcome to the elite group who have earned the CFSP designation.

On June 11, 2015 the Directors and staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., will say a final goodbye to our beloved Patrick "Patty" Earley.  As stated by Tommy Flynn today during the services, Patty was the guy who broke me in, and help explain what my Dad was telling me to do and how to do it.  His presence with all 12 doormen and 5 Licensed Directors is felt; since he either hired or told them call Flynn's and tell them I said you are a good man.  Well, Patty all of us here would like you to know that "YOU ARE THE GOOD MAN”.

It is with great pleasure that Senior & Principal Directors of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
Thomas F. X. Flynn, Jr.,  Loretta M. Flynn-Murphy & Michael Onorato share this news:

Brendan Thomas Flynn shall become a Licensed Funeral Director, following in the footsteps of his father, aunt and Grandfather. Brendan Thomas is the second oldest son of Tommy & Margie Flynn, he attended Monroe Woodbury Schools and then St. Thomas Aquinas College, where he graduated with Honors with a degree in Accounting & Math.

Brendan has been an avid Soccer Player since the age of 5, and played in both High School and College as Captain or Co-Captain.  He has helped his Dad as a young man, first by cleaning and then working the doors with some of the greatest men in the area.

His goal is to have the impact on the community which he loves as much as his grandparents Thomas F. and Rita P. Flynn & Edward F. and Catherine (Katie) Patterson have had in the Chester and Monroe communities.

He will begin his course of secondary study this September, which upon his completion shall sit for the National Boards, then fulfill a Mandated One Year Registered Resident Program, then focus on his final course of study.

The Flynn Family and the Staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., & Hickory Cremation Services cannot express how Honored we all are that Brendan Thomas Flynn shall follow in the footsteps of his Grandfather and Father.  For this loving, caring young man plans on making a commitment to this profession and the communities which the Flynn Family has loved since we opened.

A personal thank you to the Men and Women who wear the Title of Police Officer

I would like to take time to thank the Police Officer that stopped me when I was 16 for driving too fast; he taught me that driving was a privilege and not a right.

I would like to thank the Police officer that pulled me over when my tail lights were not working, and explained to me, that the person behind me would not know I was going to make a turn, and told me get that fixed before you hurt someone.

I would like to thank the Police Officer that took my beer when I was 17 and explained to me, that I would disappoint my parents and most likely ruin my ability to get into a good college.

I would like to thank the Police Officer when I was a freshman in college heading home for CHRISTmas break, and my car broke down. He helped me get home for CHRISTmas by asking a friend at the rest stop gas station to fix the hose that broke.

I would like to thank the Police Officer that stopped me when I was trying to find a house in Pine Bush, NY and was concerned how many times I passed him on patrol. He ended up pulling me over and explained, I found the correct street name, just the wrong town, and clearly asked me, are you sure she wants a date with you? Then took time to give me the correct directions.

I would like to thank my father in law for being a NYC Police Officer and then becoming a member of Emergency Service for he and his partners, were the guys that helped the men and women of blue, when they needed help.

I would like to say thank you to my two sisters who served the City of New York Police Department with distinction, and worked with some of the GREATEST MEN AND WOMEN THERE ARE in this world.

I would like to thank the Police officer who stopped the traffic the day my Mom’s Funeral was held, so that we could continue in the Funeral Procession to lay her next to my father, who worked as a Police Officer for a period of time.

I would like to say thank you to the 2 Police Officers that were murdered today, for having faith in the City, even when some of those that reside there do not.

I would like to thank them for getting up each and every day, and without political ambitions, protecting the entire CITY OF NEW YORK...

I would like all that read this to pray for the TWO NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICERS Murdered today, and for those that they LOVED, that GOD may HELP THEM DURING THIS TIME.

I thank the men and women who PROTECT US, DEAL WITH US and STILL day in and out, state – to those that question their occupational choice, my purpose is to protect and serve, even when others are filled with HATE.
